James 4:6: But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.”
Luke 14:11:
The problem with pride...It's hard to recognize pride in yourself. It only leads to ruin. Satan uses pride to drive a wedge between people.
The honor of humility...True humility is seeing yourself as God sees you. True humility is revealed by how I treat others. It is pride that makes you want to be recognized above everyone else. Proverbs 29:23: A man’s pride will bring him low, But a humble spirit will obtain honor.
Numbers 13:33: There also we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak are part of the Nephilim); and we became like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.” It's easy to be humble when you are outnumbered and outgunned....but how do you see yourself when you are on equal ground or in a place of authority.
Deuteronomy 7: 1-2: When the LORD your God brings you into the land where you are entering to possess it, and clears away many nations before you, the Hittites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Canaanites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and stronger than you, 2 and when the LORD your God delivers them before you and you defeat them, then you shall utterly destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them and show no favor to them. Seven nations...seven deadly sins. What armies do you face and how is God delivering them before you. More pointed question, do you make covenants for this enemy (sin) once delivered from it?
Ephesians 6:12: For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
